Climate neutral: a matter of doing

We like to keep our reputation for sustainability high. Preferably by talking a little less about it and doing a little more. We like to be at the forefront of sustainable passenger transport, by making conscious choices that combine quality and responsibility. A few achievements we have achieved include Koninklijke Jan de Wit:

Sustainable fuel without impact on nature and food

Our touring car fleet, which consists of approximately 100 vehicles, runs on renewable diesel. HVO 100 (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) is produced from waste streams from the agricultural and food industries and does not contribute to deforestation or the use of food as a raw material. The fuel is ISCC EU certified and meets the strict sustainability requirements of the European Union. No damage is also caused to the environment or ecosystems during the extraction and production of the raw materials. This enables us to achieve a CO₂ reduction of approximately 90 percent (well to wheel) compared to conventional diesel. We consider HVO 100 to be the best intermediate solution in the transition to 100% zero-emission vehicles.

With this conscious choice, we offer our clients a passenger transport solution that is as sustainable as possible.

Zero-emission buses

In addition, we now have six electric buses. Electric driving is currently a viable alternative for bus and coach transport in assignments where the maximum number of kilometers remains limited. For international coach transport, we will also continue investing in other realistic, forward-looking solutions that demonstrably contribute to sustainable passenger transport – including the proven HVO 100 application as a non-fossil fuel.

Infrastructure entirely under our own management

To ensure a smooth transition to zero-emission transport, we have fully managed the charging infrastructure for our electric buses. On-site, Koninklijke Jan de Wit we have advanced charging facilities that allow the buses to be charged efficiently and quickly for their next assignment.

To truly make these kilometers green, we make smart use of the sun; with the solar panels on the roofs of our branches, we generate a large part of the required charging current ourselves. By keeping this management in-house, we are not dependent on public charging points and guarantee the highest operational reliability for our travelers.
